The Blessing box began as a result of a dream in 1953 through Jessie Trout, co-founder and first executive secretary of Christian Women's Fellowship. This idea was an additional way to fund the broader mission of the church. Over the years, Blessing Boxes were kept in homes and offices across the church to enable people to express their gratitude for daily blessings given to others.
There are over 100 Blessing Boxes in Oklahoma. Members of Grace United Methodist mission committee contacted several churches who displayed these boxes. Everyone responded with one common positive comment, "People who receive items will return to donate food or toiletry articles."
